PABUT is a nickname I picked up in Staten Island when I was active in the Amateur Radio community. My callsign is ka2pbt. In conversation, for short, hams refer to other hams by the suffix of their callsign, in my case P-B-T. One ham Ed O'Grady, then kc2zf, took to pronouncing the suffixes and mine sounded like PABUT. Well that was the beginning and I've used it as a pseudonym ever since.
